ABSTRACT
The beneficial effects of PHB as supplement for giant tiger prawn Penaeus monodon postlarvae using a short-term enrichment strategy via Artemia were examined. co-supplementing with lipid emulsion also evaluated to determine whether it yielded an additional benefit. Results on the average weight and larval development not significantly different among fed dietary treatments, indicating that supplementation could be used stimulate growth in P. while such positive results have been reported other aquaculture species. Nonetheless, higher survival was obtained PHB-enriched irrespective enrichment. In addition, increased after exposure lethal dose ammonia. Lipid nullified this effect. cumulative mortality subjected sublethal concentration ammonia 24 h subsequent pathogenic Vibrio campbelli showed but lipids effectively enhance resistance postlarvae. Co-supplementing even decreased outcome. Our study indicates increases quality their chance surviving under adverse environmental conditions. co-supplementation did add these effects.
