ABSTRACT
In vitro hemolysis testing is an essential method for assessing the hemolytic potential of blood pumps, but has poor reproducibility. Further investigations are needed to determine sources and extent variability find a practical way reduce variation.A small volume circulating loop driven by Centrimag pump was established provide relatively higher readouts within short run time be able sequentially perform multiple repeated tests in working day.The repeatability with this system demonstrated as %RSD at 4.3% NIH or MIH from three using same blood. The bovine different randomly selected donors tested gave more than two-fold difference results (0.077 vs. 0.032 g/100 L) under conditions pump. This wide variation happened repeatedly. More importantly, it observed that test drawn donor on days narrow although native hematocrits varied. values obtained five were 6.8%, 8.4%, 11.5%, 7.8% donor-specific 1 4, respectively. The study indicate mechanical stress-induced behavior donor-dependent. It been also reproducibility can improved when used.
