ABSTRACT
Abstract Aim Considering that sympathetic activation is induced by exercise, it reasonable to assume hemodynamic adjustments exercise act in opposition those elicited the diving response. However, cardiovascular measurements have never been performed during underwater dynamic apnoea ( DA ), and this hypothesis remains speculative. Methods Data concerning heart rate HR stroke volume SV ) cardiac output CO static SA were collected from 12 elite divers means of an impedance cardiograph adapted environment. Mean arterial pressure MBP systemic vascular resistance SVR oxygen saturation (SaO 2 also assessed. Five trials divers: head‐out immersion normal breathing (test A); 3 min immersed at surface (B) m depth (C); till exhaustion (D) (E). Results Both B C conditions led bradycardia (−17%) compared A a decrement (−8%) (−25%), while was maintained because increase . significant increment (+11%) detected only tests D E, when SaO drop present, whereas , remained unchanged. Conclusion We concluded typical response present which partially obscured effects
