ABSTRACT
Summary Background Although nighttime reflux symptoms are common, the presence of nocturnal is seldom confirmed with a standard 24 hours pH study. Aim To study patients supine using prolonged wireless monitoring. Methods In this retrospective study, typical acid were studied 96‐h Patients compared to those without. Night‐to‐night variability and diagnostic accuracy 24‐, 48‐ 72‐hours studies 96‐hours “gold standard” evaluated. Results Of 105 included (61.9% females; mean age 46.8 ± 14.4 years), 86 (81.9%) reported symptoms, which 67.4% had pathological exposure in at least one night. There was high variance night‐to‐night (94% [IQR0‐144]), larger than upright (58% [IQR32‐88]; P < 0.001). When analysing first 32% diagnosed versus 51% based upon pH‐test.
