ABSTRACT
Abstract Garcinielliptone FC ( GFC ) is a polyisoprenylated benzophenone isolated from Platonia insignis Mart (Clusiaceae) with promising anticonvulsant properties. However, its safe use and other effects on the central nervous system require assessment. This study assessed toxicological of using comet assay micronucleus test in mice treated for 28 days. A behavioural model was employed to detect possible injuries system. Mice (2, 10 20 mg/kg; i.p.) daily days were submitted rotarod test, open‐field tail suspension TST ). After behaviour tasks, biological samples evaluate genotoxic mutagenic test. did not impair performance animals tests, no antidepressant‐like effect . No blood cerebral cortex observable assay; however, there significant increase index frequency damage liver after treatment mg/kg. bone marrow. At tested doses, toxic CNS induce or narrow cells. DNA tissue caused only by highest dose, although potential observed.
