ABSTRACT
This paper addresses the importance of school meals in balancing food budgets and diets among 45 low‐income families Portugal. Drawing on interviews with both parents children (aged 11–15 years) we found that children’s views quality affect their willingness to eat at heighten parental concerns health, resources. For parents, are crucial ensure dietary variety tight budgets. Schools’ role poverty alleviation is also critically addressed, contributing current future sociological studies children, poverty.
