Method project retrospective cohort over 10‐year period. Two hundred two patients with rectal cancer who had received followed by curative surgery were included. A histopathologist prospectively scored each specimen survival recurrence analysed. Results One ninety completed long‐course preoperative formed basis study. Overall, 40 recurrences (local distant) observed median follow‐up 36 months. score significant predictor (hazard ratio 1.273, 95% CI 1.048–1.548; P = 0.015). overall mortality rate 21%, lower correlated an improved curve 0.01). Conclusion results demonstrate that response nodal is related recurrence.
