ABSTRACT
The characteristic features of Papanicolaou (Pap) tests collected from female-to-male (FTM) transgender patients on androgen therapy have not been well defined in the literature. FTM require cervical cancer screening with same recommended frequency as cis-gender females. Dysplasia remains challenging to differentiate atrophy. Without pertinent history, atrophic findings younger can be misinterpreted high-grade dysplasia.A review all Pap receiving (2010-2017) was performed. Bethesda diagnosis, cytomorphological features, HPV testing and biopsy results were reviewed.Eleven identified 23 tests, 11 five biopsies A demonstrated: 57% negative for intraepithelial lesion; 13% unsatisfactory; atypical squamous cells undetermined significance; - cannot exclude 4% lesion. rates abnormal higher than our age-matched cohort unsatisfactory (0.5%), significance (7%), cells-cannot lesion (0%) (0.5%). cytological liquid-based preparations included dispersed clustered parabasal-type cells, scattered degenerated smooth evenly chromatin, occasional mild nuclear enlargement irregularity. Dysplastic had larger nuclei, hyperchromatic clumped more irregular contours. The evaluation dysplasia therapy. evaluated tests. Pathologists should familiar distinctive changes evaluate them appropriately.
