ABSTRACT
Background Headache is the most common symptom of C hiari 1 malformation, a condition characterized by herniation cerebellar tonsils through foramen magnum. However, headache pattern cases with malformations not well defined in literature, especially children. Objective The aim this retrospective chart review was to evaluate frequency and characteristics children malformation at initial evaluation during follow up. Methods Forty‐five tonsillar ectopia were selected among 9947 under 18 years age who underwent neuroimaging between 2002 2010. A semistructured clinical interview (mean follow‐up: 5.2 years) conducted. classified according second edition I nternational lassification H eadache D isorders. Results Possible associations picture, particular pattern, but also other signs symptoms attributable extent found for 3 different groups: those borderline (<5 mm, N = 12), mild (5‐9 27), severe (≥10 6), respectively. Twenty‐four out 33 (73%) complained headache, 9/33 (27%) patients (5 4 ectopia) reported attributed malformation. Conclusions In our studied pediatric population, diagnosed presence along or highly predictive ectopia.
