ABSTRACT
Background Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is increasingly used for the long-term management of hypervolemic refractory congestive heart failure (CHF) patients, in particular when complicated by renal insufficiency. While PD has many advantages over hemodialysis (HD) those there a controversy concerning survival superiority compared with HD this population. The aim study was to define typical patient profile and compare outcomes patients CHF treated or PD. Methods This retrospective cohort enrolled chronic between years 2009-2018. Information at initiation included age, gender, body weight, blood pressure, cause disease, comorbidities, hospitalisations, echocardiographic laboratory parameters. Survival using Kaplan-Meier model Cox regression analysis. Results had significantly higher eGFR lower systolic pressure patients. Median time 13.32 (7.08, 23.28) months group 19.68 (9.48, 39.24) group, P = .013. After adjustment confounders mortality risk amongst not different: adjusted HR death vs 1.44, .35 1- year 1.69, .10 2-year mortality. Number hospitalisations similar both groups. Conclusions different HD. Two modalities were equally effective treatment considering characteristics.
