ABSTRACT
Abstract To investigate sexual behaviour under the influence of alcohol and relationship between drinking habits unsafe sex we carried out a postal interview survey 2174 students in North East England. Drinking were classified as non, light, medium heavy, cross‐tabulated against other risk taking behaviour. Response rates 74% 77% obtained surveys respectively. In survey, heavier drinkers more likely to have such casual without condom, with someone know many partners. Respondents associated taking; because too much, last year, 19% had not taken contraceptive precautions during sex. The largely confirmed results. There are three possible explanations association sex: might disinhibit safer sex; young risk‐takers may also drink more; or, be by coincidence encounters often begin licensed premises. should therefore priority issue for future HIV/AIDS related research, policy debate, health education endeavour.
