ABSTRACT
Abstract With a growing need for wildlife conservation and management in the communal lands of Africa, comprehensive ecological monitoring tools to be developed evaluated. While census methods are often compared terms precision accuracy estimate population size various target species, little attention has been paid measure species diversity mammal communities. A combined abundance community composition is, however, crucial source information determining priorities evaluate ecosystem responses activities. In this study, we present five large medium‐sized mammals compare their efficacy measuring diversity. accumulation curve analysis is used with predictive model local richness, level completeness our censuses as well effort required carry out census. Advantages limits each method discussed through comparison respective richness rate. Results illustrate difference between ability detection, completed by bicycle offering best option within context unprotected area.
