Sexual knowledge, attitudes and activity of older people in Taipei, Taiwan

ABSTRACT
We examined sexual activity and predictive factors among older people in Taipei, Taiwan. aimed to characterize the population engaged determine influencing factors, exploring aspects of sexuality that may influence elders' health quality life (QOL).Studies attitudes behaviour have found difficulties are common mature adults worldwide, influenced men women by physical health, ageing, psychosocial cultural factors.We conducted a community-based retrospective study involving random sample 412 204 over age 65. A questionnaire on demographics social situations was administered, along with Sexuality Knowledge Attitudes Scale; 34 questions evaluated knowledge 18 attitudes.Two-hundred twenty participants were sexually active (35.7%), 185 mainly spouses (84.1%); frequency 21.4 (SD 16.9) times per year (range: 1-120). Multiple logistic regressions identified five significant predictors activity: gender, age, being spouse, attitudes. Sexual significantly associated higher education levels, lower stress more self-reported daily activities.Our results agreed Western studies linking better QOL adults. Older peoples' levels recognized quality-of-life measures; activities suggests connection between QOL. Increasing improving about help build healthier relationships enhance Relevance clinical practice.
