ABSTRACT
To assess the techniques and materials used in intravitreal injections.Descriptive study realized at Vision Institute of Federal University São Paulo, Brazil.Different brands needles syringes, as well enucleated porcine eyeballs.The ultra-structures commonly were analysed by scanning electron microscope, they compared using different criteria, such irregularities debris from lubrication process. The scleral incision was also assessed sizes. Accuracies drug administration studied comparing residual delivered volume analysis reflux after injections.Efficiency quality injections.Ultra-structure analyses showed that all had types irregularities. Some photographs process, especially BD needles. Scleral a tendency reducing ocular damage with increasing gauge (P=0.024). investigation delivery accuracy almost underdosed amount injected (P<0.05), could be minimized tunnelled injections thinner needles.Needles possess many their structures, which may cause injection outcomes. Analyses incisions larger needle gauge, lesser risk complications. Moreover, inaccuracies might one causes for some unsuccessful attempts treatment.
