ABSTRACT
To assess the role of in vivo staining with intravesical methylene blue predicting tumour recurrence.Thirty-nine patients (27 men and 12 women, age range 43-75 years) newly diagnosed bladder tumours were prospectively studied followed for a minimum 2 years. Potential biopsy sites identified by intravesically 1% solution compared random sites.Biopsy directed detected carcinoma situ more often than biopsy. Rates recurrence similar both stained unstained groups.Methylene does not add significantly to management presenting tumours.
