ABSTRACT
W. Stefanski Instituteof Parasitology of the Polish Academy of Science, Warsaw, PolandINTRODUCTIONIxodes ricinus and Dermacentor reticulatus arecommon European ticks and vectors of variousinfections. Bartonella spp. is an aetiologic agent ofvector-borne infections. Bartonella henselae trans-mission by cat fleas is now well established, andnew potential vectors have recently been identi-fied, including ticks and biting flies.The presence of Bartonella spp. was searched forin adult I. ricinus and D. reticulatus ticks collectedfrom infested animals and vegetation.MATERIALS AND METHODS
