ABSTRACT
Abstract In two experiments, direct and indirect semantic priming were measured using event‐related potentials. Experiment 1, participants rated the relatedness between prime target on a seven‐point scale. 2, simply read primes targets as they monitored for category in probe filler items. Significant N400 effects observed both experiments. effect remained significant when indirectly related unrelated word pairs matched participants' explicit judgments. preserved more global objective measures of similarity. These findings are discussed context current theoretical models memory priming.
