ABSTRACT
Two‐ and three‐dimensional SiC r /SiC composites have been prepared starting from Tyranno SA(tm) fiber preforms. Preform densification has performed by a modified preceramic polymer impregnation pyrolysis (PIP) process consisting of filling the preform large interbundle voids with powder before PIP process. This step was accomplished low‐pressure infiltration dilute slurry through thickness. Specimens were further processed to determine effects on structural, thermal, mechanical properties obtained composites. High‐temperature treatment, which promoted derived matrix crystallization, markedly increased thermal diffusivity.
