ABSTRACT
Abstract. The antibody content of milk from healthy Swedish mothers was compared with that a very low socio‐economic group in developing country. Antibodies various immunoglobulin classes against E. coti O antigens were determined the enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). antibodies which mainly belonged to secretory IgA class appeared similar concentrations two groups using coli as well Pakistani origin. could be demonstrated stool breast‐fed infants undernourished mothers. Also concentration serum IgG and IgM levels higher, however, presumably due higher frequency infections. It noted production decreased considerably upon hospitalization well‐to‐do small volumes suggest lactation failure observed inadequate flow not quality. results indicate necessity studying nutritional, psychological social factors responsible for yield add yet another reason stimulate prolonged breastfeeding.
