ABSTRACT
A bstract Seven hundred and twenty base pairs (bp) of the mitochondrial control region from 73 finless porpoises, Neophocaena phocaenoides , in Chinese waters were sequenced. Thirteen variable sites determined 17 haplotypes defined. Of these, 5 7 found only Yellow Sea population South China population, respectively, whereas no specific haplo‐type was Yangtze River population. Phylogenetic analyses using NJ ML algorithm did not divide into monophyletic clades representing recognized geographic populations porpoises waters, suggesting existence migration gene flow among populations. Analysis molecular variance showed obvious genetic structure (φ st = 0.41, P < 0.05); however, mainly between either or The diversity (nucleotide haplotypic diversity) significantly higher than those relatively later divergence latter two supporting as original center .
