ABSTRACT
Abstract For the first time, potassium sodium niobate ( KNN )‐based lead‐free piezoelectric ceramic coating with strong response was fabricated on stainless steel substrates by thermal spray process, after introducing NiCrAlY and yttria‐stabilized zirconia YSZ ) intermediate layers. A large effective coefficient (d 33 of 125 pm/V obtained thermal‐sprayed ‐based substrates. The mechanisms improving structure enhancing properties coatings layers were analyzed. Ultrasonic transducers designed from directly formed a plate structure, feasibility for generation detection ultrasonic waves structural health monitoring using demonstrated.
