ABSTRACT
Abstract Red phosphor is indispensable to achieve warm white light in the diode (WLED) application. However, current red phosphors suffer from high cost and harsh synthesis conditions. In this study, an oxide‐based rare‐earth‐free red‐emitting Li 3 Mg 2 NbO 6 :Mn 4+ (LMN:Mn ) has been successfully synthesized by a simple solid‐state reaction method. The relationship between crystal structure luminescence was investigated detail. site occupancy of doping Mn ion LMN host discussed point bond valence sum. How coordination environment affects energy level illustrated via Tanabe‐Sugano energy‐level diagram. Moreover, obtained using LMN:Mn as compensator YAG:Ce 3+ .
