ABSTRACT
Abstract Ce 0.8 Gd 0.2 O 2− δ ‐FeCo 2 4 composites are attractive candidate materials for high‐purity oxygen generation providing robust chemical stability. Aiming future industrial applications, a feasible solid‐state reaction process with one thermal processing step was used to synthesize 50 wt% :50 FeCo and 85 :15 composites. Mechanical reliabilities of the sintered membranes were assessed based on characterized mechanical properties subcritical crack growth behavior. In general, fracture strengths as‐sintered reduced by tensile residual stresses microcracks. particular, enhanced behavior, which leads limited stress tolerance high failure probability after 10‐year operation, evaluated in more detail. Further improvements needed eliminate microcracks warrant long‐term reliable operation
