ABSTRACT
The aims of the present study were to perform single-step genomic predictions in dual-purpose German Black Pied cattle (DSN) breed considering a DSN specific SNP chip (DSN_200 K), and use corresponding estimated breeding values (EBV) ongoing optimum genetic contribution (OGC) selection. All results compared with application commercial Illumina BovineSNP50 BeadChip (50 K). traits interest (due differing history these past) included 305-day lactation protein percentage (Pro%) 9029 cows, fat-to-protein ratio (FPR) from first test-day 8773 stature (STAT) measured cm 4409 cows. cows represented calving years 2008-2019. Genotyping 2797 animals was conducted using both DSN_200 K 50 K. From genotyped animals, subset 1800 had phenotypic records for all three FPR, Pro% STAT. Heritabilities parameter estimations quite large (0.69) STAT (0.78), but small FPR (0.11). choice only minor effects on variance components, heritabilities EBVs. Furthermore, parameters very similar genetic-statistical models additionally linear regression pedigree-based inbreeding coefficients. OGC selection applied pool 1125 pre-selected bull sires (BS) dams (BD). A more relaxed relationship constraint associated favourable average EBVs Pro%, STAT, declining number selected BS. gains merit marginal when relaxing at 0.06 relationships or higher. same associations found an overall index (I-DSN), equal weights. Consequently, we suggested applications 0.06, which contributed gain I-DSN 17.9%, increased diversity due BS, current practical elite animal scheme. finally BS BD identical either EBV such perspective, see extra value SNP-chip application.
