ABSTRACT
Milk fat globule-epidermal growth factor 8 (MFG-E8) is the key mediator in anti-inflammatory responses that facilitate phagocytosis of apoptotic cells, and play an essential role type 2 diabetes pregnancy, both which are under a low-grade inflammatory state. However, action MFG-E8 gestational mellitus (GDM) unclear. We measured plasma levels pregnancy GDM for first time, elucidated possible relationships between its various metabolic parameters.Plasma were quantified by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay 66 women with GDM, 70 normal (p-NGT) 44 healthy non-pregnant controls (CON), who matched age body mass index. Inflammatory factors tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) C-reactive protein measured, oral glucose tolerance test was carried out β-cell function evaluated.Plasma remarkably higher p-NGT than CON (P = 0.024), further elevated vs 0.016). concentrations correlated positively hemoglobin A1c, insulin resistance (homeostasis model assessment resistance), inversely TNF-α secretion evaluated disposition indices pregnancies. Fasting levels, index phase independent predictors Logistic regression analyses showed third tertile had markedly risk GDM.Circulating dramatically significantly p-NGT. associated TNF-α, fasting homeostasis indices. studies required to elucidate regulation mechanism during GDM.
