ABSTRACT
Abstract The mechanical properties of kernels and ears are important factors affecting the resistance maize hybrids impact. broken rate (BR) 28 were determined by uniaxial compression, shear, hardness tests under standard operating conditions. A strong correlation was found between BR all hybrids, including compression stress in X ‐axis Z ‐axis, shear force rupture ears, endosperm. Three‐element model developed to determine relationship (compressive horny endosperm) characterize damage ( R s 2 = 0.583). And classified into four groups based on those extracted characteristic mechanics, each group has significant difference p < .01). Research various provides a theoretical basis for varietal food processing methods. Practical Applications rapidly increase planting area places higher requirements kernel processing. determines performance hybrids. identification best process requires limited number simple, practical, reliable that able predict potential rate. This study evaluated commonly used commercial reference data develop suitable conditions harvesting, storing, handling maize.
