ABSTRACT
Background and Aim To determine the application range of diagnostic kits utilizing anti-Helicobacter pylori antibody, we tested a newly developed latex aggregation turbidity assay (latex) conventional enzyme-linked immunosorbent (E-plate), both containing Japanese H. protein lysates as antigens, using sera from seven Asian countries. Methods Serum samples (1797) were obtained, standard infection status atrophy determined by culture histology (immunohistochemistry) gastric biopsy same individuals. The two tests (enzyme-linked latex) applied, receiver operating characteristics analysis was performed. Results Area under curve (AUC) characteristic E-plate curves almost highest in Vietnam. AUC slightly lower than other countries, difference became statistically significant Myanmar then Bangladesh lowest. consider past cases, additionally evaluated. Most AUCs decreased this atrophy-evaluated status; however, between not each country, but better all samples. Practical cut-off values 3.0 U/mL E-test 3.5 test, to avoid missing cancer patients greatest extent possible. Conclusions applicable new regional strains are recommended for Bangladesh. Use value best is essential screening patients.
