ABSTRACT
Abstract Aim This study evaluated the usefulness of daily walking for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) management by analyzing relationship between and glucose tolerance in pregnant women with GDM who were second trimester. Methods longitudinal was conducted at TOYOTA Memorial Hospital Toyota, Japan, from January 2015 to June 2016. Pregnant wore accelerometers on waist 7–12 weeks. Results Seventy‐three included present study; data collected 24 analyzed. The estimated number steps walked showed a significant positive correlation ( r = 0.798, P 0.000) energy expenditure related physical activity. There negative −0.603, 0.014) post‐ pre‐research casual level (CGL) ratio daily. No −0.004, 0.986) detected hemoglobin A 1c taken. When completed, 11 participants ≥6000 steps/day significantly lower CGL (95 + 10 mg/dL [mean SD]) than 13 <6000 group (111 18 mg/dL) 0.013). Conclusion Simple light intensity activity is effective controlling GDM. We recommend that should walk minimum 6000 steps/day.
