ABSTRACT
Background Inflammation is associated with hydroxyl radical damage to DNA as a result of oxidative stress. 8‐Hydroxy deoxyguanosine (8‐ OHdG ) marker this process and its levels in saliva could be linked the severity periodontal inflammation. The aim study was test sensitivity liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry ( LC ‐ MS / MS) comparison enzyme‐linked immune sorbent assay ELISA) for detection 8‐ patients chronic periodontitis before after treatment. Methods Saliva samples were collected from 23 (eight females 15 males; 46.1 ± 5.1 years age) generalized 25 (15 10 44.9 6.8 periodontally healthy individuals. Patients received initial treatment consisting scaling root planing evaluated at baseline 6 wk completion non‐surgical therapy. Salivary measured using ELISA Clinically, plaque index, gingival clinical attachment level, bleeding on probing, recession probing pocket depth wk. Results decreased significantly p < 0.001). Statistically significant positive correlations observed between depth, values Conclusion reliable sensitive method evaluating salivary monitor response periodontitis.
