ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Current methods to measure intragastric pH in horses have limitations. A wireless capsule has been designed for continuous esophageal monitoring humans. Objectives To (1) determine the feasibility and describe methodology of measuring wirelessly horses; (2) attachment duration capsules. Animals Eleven healthy adult horses. Methods Capsules were attached squamous glandular gastric mucosa under gastroscopic guidance, using suture loops 1 4 hemostasis clips. was continuously recorded a recorder both fed fasted states. Gastroscopy performed daily assess any mucosal damage. Data analyzed commercially available software. Values are reported as median (interquartile range). Results successfully placed data obtained (n = 11) 7) regions. The overall 27 hours (15‐32); clip 4) 15 (11‐20), 2 clips 2) 20 (16‐23), 3 32 (30‐32), 1) 33 hours. 10 (8‐21); 11 (10‐13), 19 (14‐23), 7 (7‐8), 158 There no substantial damage consequence attachment. Conclusions Clinical Importance This novel technique enables measurement at known locations conditions, providing viable alternative research clinical scenarios.
