ABSTRACT
This study aimed to identify Pythium and Phytopythium species from weeds collected in vegetable fields test their pathogenicity. Weeds with symptoms of damping-off, root rot or wilt were sampled the Brazilian states Ceará, Goiás Pernambuco, as well Distrito Federal, for isolation identification causal agents. Once isolated, colonies typical characteristics grew selective V8 medium. Procedures included morphology amplification ITS Cox II regions, which compared other accessions available at GenBank. The phylogenetic relationships among isolates pathogenicity original hosts evaluated. Six identified: P. aphanidermatum, oopapillum, orthogonon, ultimum var. ultimum, myriotylum sylvaticum, two Phytopythium, Phy. chamaehyphon oedochilum. In tests, 10 weed showed damping-off after inoculation, exception Portulaca oleraceae none was pathogenic. Therefore, common areas can host different play an important role epidemiology diseases, particular on pathogen survival population increase.
