ABSTRACT
Abstract Arthropod‐borne diseases are important causes of morbidity and mortality. The identification vector species relies mainly on morphological features and/or molecular biology tools. first method requires specific technical skills may result in misidentifications, the second is time‐consuming expensive. aim present study to assess usefulness accuracy matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry ( MALDI‐TOF MS) as a supplementary tool with which identify mosquito invest creation an international database. A total 89 specimens belonging 10 were selected for extraction proteins from legs establishment reference blind test 123 mosquitoes was performed validate MS method. Results showed that: (a) spectra obtained given differed same collected another country, highlights need database; (b) accurate rapid that referenced (c) allows separation groups or complex species, (d) laboratory undergo loss compared those isolated field. In conclusion, useful can help inform control.
