Practices of the ABCDEF care bundle in intensive care units as reported by nurses: A cross‐sectional study from Turkey

ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Recent critical care guidelines recommended the evidence‐based ABCDEF bundle for intensive unit (ICU) patients. However, limited information is available on implementation of in Turkish ICUs. Aim To assess current practices as reported by ICU nurses. Study Design A cross‐sectional study using a web‐based survey was conducted. Researchers invited nurses with at least 1 year experience to participate sending link research questionnaires they created Google Forms one nurse association and communication group which are members. Results total 342 completed survey. Although 92% participants performed pain assessments their ICUs, 52.7% not protocols. Based responses nurses, spontaneous awakening breathing trials 88.8% 92.4%, respectively, Fewer than half following sedation protocol Only 54.7% surveyed routinely monitoring patients delirium. It that early mobilization practised 68.7% but non‐ventilated were mobilized more frequently (70.2%), 9.7% ICUs had teams. Family members actively involved 95% ICUs; however, used dedicated staff support families 3.5% open 24 h/day visits. Conclusions While most evaluations many them did use structured delirium assessments. There need encourage programs family participation. Relevance Clinical Practice Health institutions can improve patient outcomes establishing standardizing each component
