ABSTRACT
Summary The present study aims to show the effectiveness of a methodological procedure estimate volumetric capacity archaeological ceramic vessels and net gross weights their probable contents. This method can be easily applied, independently cultural or chronological contexts, and, alongside other historical economic conclusions, might serve verify possible existence typological metrological standardizations domestic commercial containers. gives detailed description simple protocol which uses profile drawings calculate approximate volume any vessel, thus enabling assessment its conformity ancient weight systems. article will illustrate strength using sample Ramon T‐11213 amphorae made in Bay Cadiz during fifth century BC, which, given quantitative qualitative strengths, proves an exemplary case valid pilot.
