ABSTRACT
ABSTRACT Background Temporary transvenous pacing (TTP) is a common procedure, predominantly performed in the catheterization laboratory (cath lab) because of presumed lower complication rate. This study aims to evaluate efficacy and safety TTP placement ICU compared cath lab. Methods retrospective, real‐life included all patients requiring tertiary care between 2019 2022. Patients’ characteristics, TTP‐related data, outcomes, complications were groups (ICU vs. lab). Results Data from 193 receiving analyzed; 68.4% received 31.6% The main indication was atrioventricular block 154 (79.8%). operator less frequently an interventional cardiologist (12.1%) lab (100%, p < 0.001). more using jugular access (72.0% 1.6%), right‐sided laterality (88.7% 43.6%), balloon‐tipped catheter (100% 0%, 0.001 for comparisons). Success 100% both groups. overall rate 16.6%, with no significant difference (14.4% 21.3% lab, = 0.13), but tendency toward higher group (especially tamponade, lead displacement, CIED infection). Conclusion In daily clinical scenario, appears as safe than regardless operator's level expertise when accordance best practices. Nevertheless, remain high, alternatives should be used whenever possible.
