ABSTRACT
Abstract Southern corn rust (SCR) is a fungal disease found on in several countries worldwide. In Brazil, the can result productivity losses of 65%, especially areas with history disease. this study, genetic architecture and identification genomic regions associated SCR resistance was investigated by performing genome‐wide association study. Genotyping‐by‐sequencing performed to carry out between single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers phenotypic data from two environments panel 164 maize inbred lines. Eight SNPs were identified as significant for resistance. These colocalized QTL regions, some which underlie candidate genes functions that play an important role stress response during pathogen recognition. genes, involved plant defense pathways, could be partial provide comprehensive insight into trait. After validation SNPs, they will useful marker–assisted selection better understanding SCR.
