ABSTRACT
Specialized metabolites are a structurally diverse group of naturally occurring compounds that facilitate plant-environment interactions. Their synthesis and maintenance in plants is overall resource-demanding process occurs at the expense growth reproduction typically incurs several costs. Evidence emerging on different specialized suggests they serve multiple auxiliary functions to influence moderate primary metabolism plants. These new functionalities enable them mediate trade-offs from defenses also offset their production costs Recent research glucosinolates (GSLs), which Brassicales, demonstrates multifunctionalities fine-tune plant development under variable environments. Herein, we present findings septennium individual GSLs catabolites (GHPs) per se, work as mobile signals within precise regulations physiological functions. Both GHPs calibrate growth-defense trade-off interactions either synergistically or directly when function storage compounds, abiotic stress alleviators, one-to-one regulators pathways We finally summarize lessons learned model raise most pressing questions address molecular-genetic intricacies metabolite-based
