ABSTRACT
Vasopressin exerts robust influences on social communication and behavior in humans. Apelin is a relatively novel neuropeptide that could counteract vasopressin's actions has been shown to be closely related with broad range of physiological functions. Abnormalities vasopressin apelin have detected variety psychiatric disorders, but their relation attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) unknown. In the present study, we explored plasma levels apelin-13 children ADHD.Thirty-four ADHD 36 healthy controls were enrolled this study. The severity symptoms was assessed via Conners' Parent Rating Scale Teacher Scale. Plasma measured using commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits. The mean significantly higher male than control subjects; no significant difference found between groups for girls or entire subject cohort. did not show any differences groups. There correlations these neuropeptides scores Scale. Our results suggest sex-specific association ADHD. Apelin-13 may play role etiopathogenesis either direct impact receptor its opposing effect vasopressinergic system.
