ABSTRACT
Abstract Objective To describe COVID‐19 deaths among children and adolescents in Sergipe, Brazil. Methods Ecological study of all reported cases occurring < 19 years age Sergipe by the health surveillance mortality information systems Sergipe’s Health Secretary hospital records. Results Of 37 old were up to 30 September 2020, corresponding 4.87 for 100 000 population old. Most occurred infants (44.1/100 000), this group had highest case fatality rate (15.3 %). comorbidities such as chronic neurological diseases ( n = 7; 19%) prematurity 4; 11%). who died 18; 49%) not admitted intensive care units (ICUs). Conclusion was higher than other Brazilian states high‐income countries. A large proportion with a minority ICU, reflecting limited provision beds State. Newborns are high‐risk that must have priority public policy.
