ABSTRACT
Intravenous immunoglobulin G (IVIG) replacement therapy is used to prevent invasive infections in patients with primary antibody deficiency (PAD). However, few studies have functionally evaluated specific antibodies against encapsulated bacteria that cause infection PAD. In this study, functional Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), Streptococcus pneumoniae (pneumococci), and Neisseria meningitidis (meningococci) IVIG were evaluated.Sixteen lots of products prepared by two Korean manufacturers (Products A B) evaluated. The measured serum bactericidal assay for Hib four meningococcal serogroups multiplexed opsonophagocytic 26 pneumococcal serotypes. estimated trough levels Hib, pneumococcus, meningococcus calculated determine whether the usual dose appropriate protecting PAD.The similar all products. contrast, bacterial indices Y showed significant differences between B. Opsonic pneumococci varied depending on serotype each product. exceeded protective most except serotypes. Most tested commercial had sufficient protect PAD receiving treatment. Regular continuous evaluation necessary maintain an optimal therapeutic effect.
