ABSTRACT
Splenectomy followed by adjuvant chemotherapy is commonly used to treat canine splenic haemangiosarcoma (HSA), although it unclear if different treatment protocols may have a similar efficacy. The objective of this retrospective study was assess outcome in dogs with stage I and II HSA treated either first-line anthracycline (AC) or metronomic (MC)-based protocols, comparing median time progression (TTP) survival (MST). Medical records nine institutions were searched for diagnosed that underwent AC- MC-based following splenectomy. Patients MC AC included an additional group (AMC). Ninety-three included: 50 the group, 23 AMC 20 group. overall MST 200 days (range 47-3352) TTP 185 37-1236). significantly longer compared (338 vs 151 days, respectively, P = .028). When adjusting type, 154 47-3352 days), 338 79-1623 days) 225 57-911 days). difference not found be statistically significant between groups. This suggests result when other protocols. Further studies are warranted confirm these findings.
