Congenital glaucoma in a tiger (Panthera tigris)

ABSTRACT
To describe a case of congenital glaucoma in atiger (Panthera tigris).An 8-month-old intact female tiger wasreferred for suspected the right eye. The eye was buphthalmicwith moderate episcleral injection, circumferential superficial cornealneovascularization, corneal edema, and fixed dilated pupil. Tapetalreflection absent due to mature cataract. Rebound tonometry under generalanesthesia revealed 70 mmHg 21 left eye, respectively.A trans-conjunctival enucleation performedand globe submitted histopathology.Histopathology thin sclera, amorphousmaterial contouring an imperforate hypoplastic iridocorneal angle, ahypoplastic lens with severe anterior-posterior compression, subcapsularepithelial hyperplasia, Morganian globules, segmental retinalatrophy. Periodic acid-Schiff stain highlighted dilations theDescemet's membrane. Masson trichrome pre-irido collagenmembrane.The tiger's age histopathologic findingsare consistent goniodysgenesis. This is first known reportof tiger.
