ABSTRACT
The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) is an accelerator-based multidisciplinary user facility located in Dongguan, Guangdong, China. It was launched in 2011 and started delivering neutron beams to users in March 2018. The CSNS complex consists of an H− linear accelerator, a rapid cycling synchrotron that accelerates the beam to 1.6 GeV, a solid tungsten target station, and various instruments for spallation neutron applications. This paper focuses on the vacuum system from the H− ion source to the Drift Tube Linac, aiming to review the operations of the CSNS Linac vacuum system over the past nine years. Specifically, it discusses the main challenges encountered and the actions taken to overcome them. Additionally, it evaluates the preliminary engineering design of the CSNS II Linac vacuum system.
