ABSTRACT
This contribution relates to the project "La Phonologie du Français Contemporain" (PFC), largest and most ambitious survey of modern French ever conceived. The PFC involves over thirty researchers from a variety countries aims at recording, partial transcription phonetic analysis 600 speakers francophone world. It broad coverage varieties contemporary by selecting groups approximately 60 different locations in So far around have already been recorded various parts world beside France, including Belgium, Burkina Fasso, Canada, Côte d'Ivoire, Louisianne, Switzerland. recordings involve formal informal conversation, reading aloud word-list passage. Current work conducted on database ranges auditory exploitation data automatic speech recognition via classical experimental phonetics. We address theoretical empirical issues related liaison as well vowel systems, examine sociogeographical variation changes progress these respects within French, using quantitative methods for assessment phonological hypotheses.
