ABSTRACT
The purpose of the current study was to initiate development a psychometrically sound measure cohesion for youth sport groups. A series projects were undertaken in four-phase research program. initial phase designed garner an understanding how group members perceived concept through focus groups ( n = 56), open-ended questionnaires 280), and literature review. In Phase 2, information from used 142 potential items content validity assessed. 3, 227 participants completed revised 87-item questionnaire. Principal components analyses further reduced number 17 suggested two-factor structure (i.e., task social dimensions). Finally, support factorial resultant questionnaire provided confirmatory factor with independent sample 352) 4. final version contains 16 that assess addition 2 negatively worded spurious items. Specific issues related assessing perceptions are discussed future directions suggested.
