The sex attractant of the female American cockroach, Periplaneta americana (L.), has been collected and isolated by a combination extraction, distillation, chromatographic procedures. Progress through these procedures followed bioassay ultraviolet spectrophotometry. gas chromatography, characterization mass spectrometry is proceeding.
