ABSTRACT
The characteristic ability of rat uteri to take up tritiated estradiol in vitro or retain previously incorporated either vivo is destroyed by treating the tissue with various sulfhydryl-blocking reagents. two radioactive estradiol-receptor complexes, observed uterine homogenates supernatant fraction and an extract nuclear fraction, respectively, are disrupted brief exposure organic mercurials cold. Sulfhydryl groups receptor substances apparently play a vital role binding, perhaps indirectly through contribution conformation.
