ABSTRACT
Ras proteins undergo a series of posttranslational modifications that are critical for their cellular function. These necessary to anchor the membrane. Yeast Ras2 were purified with various degrees modification and examined ability activate effector, adenylyl cyclase. The farnesylated intermediate form had more than 100 times higher affinity cyclase unprocessed form. subsequent palmitoylation reaction little effect. In contrast, was required efficient membrane localization protein. results indicate importance farnesylation in interaction its effector.
