ABSTRACT
Patterning a hyperbolic metasurface Structured metasurfaces potentially enable the control of propagation direction excitations on material's surface. However, high losses associated with materials used to date has led relatively short lifetimes for excitations. Li et al. patterned subwavelength grating into layer hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) and found that lifetime length could be much longer. Direct imaging polariton illustrates hBN can viable platform nanophotonic circuits. Science , this issue p. 892
