ABSTRACT
Intriguing interference mechanism Quantum (QI) effects play a fundamental role in the dynamics of chemical reactions. Xie et al. detected unusual QI oscillations differential cross section measured recoil scattering direction prototypical elementary reaction H + HD → 2 D (see Perspective by Aoiz). Topological analysis showed that this pattern originates from between direct abstraction and previously unknown rebounding insertion pathways, which are affected geometric phase at energies far below conical intersection. The observed these two distinctive pathways three-atom system is clear example quantum nature reactivity. Science , issue p. 767 ; see also 706
